Box scaling as a proxy of finite size correlations

Abstract The scaling of correlations as a function size provides important hints to understand critical phenomena on variety systems. Its study in biological structures offers two challenges: usually they are not infinite size, and, the majority cases, dimensions can be varied at will. Here we discuss how finite-size approximated an experimental system fixed and relatively small extent, by computing inside reduced field view various widths (we will refer this procedure “box-scaling”). A relation among view, measured correlation length, is derived at, away from, regime. Numerical simulations neuronal network, well ferromagnetic 2D Ising model, used verify such approximations. results support validity heuristic approach, which should useful characterize relevant aspects
